There’s no denying it. The iPhone is hugely popular, remaining the leader in the smartphone revolution. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best in every way. In fact, it’s got some drawbacks.
If you’re sick and tired of hearing your friends praise the iPhone, here’s some counter-arguments you can use. Read on for the top six reasons why Android beats the iPhone.
1. You Don’t Need a PC
Every iPhone has to sync with iTunes to transfer music, apps and photos. The problem is further compounded with the exclusivity of iTunes with just one computer. Sure, there is the iCloud now, but if you want to do a true and comprehensive update, you’ll need access to your computer.
With android, this isn’t the case. It has direct drag and drop facility to transfer data. The flexibility in transferring data not only makes Android a lot less complicated, but also spares the headache of carrying your laptop.
2. You have Access to the Creative Inspiration from Open Source
This is one of the pivotal reasons for the burgeoning Android market. Open source means that source code of the OS is available for read-only purposes. Software geeks are able to spawn new applications every day giving an edge to Android.
3. Flash is Supported
The licensing disputes between Apple and Adobe means the iPhone doesn’t support flash. That means you’ll be missing out on a huge chunk of video content on the web. So the next time you want to watch that video of the mosquito being squished in slow motion, you better have an Android if it’s in flash.
4. You can Expand your Memory
The mother of all drawbacks is the memory. Apple iPhones are only available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. You’ll have to pay a significant premium to upgrade.
Plus, with iPhone, you don’t get the luxury of a memory card. The new Apple iPhone 4S sports HD recording. Just an hour-long HD video will eat almost 2 GB of memory.
5. It’s a Better Price
This subheading is just about numbers. There are only 3 iPhones currently available. The base iPhone 3Gs will cost you nearly $400, while the latest flagship model iPhone 4S is retailing for a monstrous $650. On the other hand, Android Phones are available for as low as $100. Android will create a hole in your pocket while an iPhone will burn the ‘whole’ pocket.
6. You Don’t have to Switch Carriers
You don’t have to let go of your favorite cell carrier in order to buy a new phone. Android is supported by more. This not only helps in earning brownie points for loyalty, but also gives the independence of changing the carriers at your discretion.
